Dramatis: Rotspine
Name: Rotspine of Deleo
Age: 39
Occupation: Mercenary
Relationship Status: Widowed, following the death of her mate Feofan
Living Relations: Some of her 20 children; a sister named Marukah
Religion: A devout Dragian. Dragian is a religion primarily practiced in secret, mostly by the demonoid races of the realm. Dragian relies on the belief that Gardus, the God of Light and Tyr, the Goddess of Darkness (Rotspine's patron) are forever at war, kept at bay only by the machinations of their son, Ruhran, the God of Justice. Within the religion itself, there are three different sects, one primarily worshiping each of the deities. Although seemingly at war with one another, all sects agree that they cannot exist without the others. Given how xenophobic most humanoids are about demonoids, it is a highly-misunderstood religion. Many often assume that its followers are evil and hope to plunge the world into chaos and darkness. There are only three temples to the Dragian faith in the realm, one for each of the deities, hidden on an island just at the realm's borders.

Skills:
Athleticism: Rotspine is exceptionally good at climbing trees, jumping from high places and landing on her feet, and engaging in hand-to-hand combat. Wings: Rotspine has a pair of big, black wings. She can fly. Heightened Senses: All five of Rotspine's senses are sharp. She can hear heartbeats across the room. She can usually smell the difference between different races. Her eyesight makes her an excellent lookout. Think of it like the generic vampire trope of having incredible senses. Language: Rotspine and her kind pick up on new languages exceptionally fast. This also translates to her ability to learn music and musical instruments.
Abilities:
Talons: Alastrians are equipped with sharp, retractable black talons that can penetrate most surfaces, including soft metals. These are generally used to climb or, in rare instances, as weapons in hand-to-hand combat. Camouflage: About a third of the Alastrian population (including Rotspine) possess the ability to assume a Human appearance. In her natural state, Rotspine has mint green skin and pastel pink hair. With her camouflage ability, she can secrete pheromones which allow her appear as having pink-ish skin and brown hair. She can maintain this appearance for days at a time. Sonic Ability: Alastrians are capable of emitting an exceptionally loud scream that can shatter glass and occasionally render people unconscious.
Key Events:
Age 0: Rotspine born in the middle of a litter of 21. Her parents decide to join their family with the family of a strong warrior named Frick, the father of a litter of 23. The pack travel the realm, looking for a safe place to settle down. Age 3: The pack is attacked by a group of Human hunters. Everyone manages to escape, although Rotspine's sister Marukah loses her eyesight. Rotspine develops a strong distrust of humanoids. Age 6: Rotspine has her first flight. She also realizes that she can transform into a Human, temporarily. She creates a new identity and names it Rosaline. It's mostly just to go into town and get supplies. Age 10: The pack discovers a lost and confused Alastrian boy named Feofan and adopt him as one of their own. Feofan has a talent for storytelling and a surprisingly good memory for someone who doesn't remember where he came from. He's named the pack storyteller and historian. Age 15: Frick's oldest son and presumptive heir, Naxor, declares his intentions to mate with Rotspine. Rotspine wants nothing to do with him and breaks his nose. Age 16: Rotspine and Feofan fall in love. This pisses off Naxor who tries to get Feofan hurt in several "accidents." Meanwhile, the pack adopts another lost Alastrian, a boy named Tahafra. Age 17: Rotspine is kidnapped by a Human woman with magical abilities (which is extremely rare in the realm). The woman, Margawse, binds Rotspine to her as a familiar, forcing her to do her bidding in an attempt to dethrone King Artem Barr of Catalan. Margawse is quickly defeated and Rotspine escapes, filled with hate. Age 18: Frick steps down as the leader of the pack, giving the position to Naxor. Naxor makes life hell for Rotspine and Feofan, but almost all the other Alastrians are on their side. As the pack travels the realm, they rescue Tahafra's sister, Alyssa, and bring her along with them. Age 19: Rotspine and Feofan are sick and tired of Naxor's bullshit. They're also shocked when they realize that Feofan is pregnant, so they break away from the pack and flee to the rainforest kingdom of Deleo. Age 20: Feofan gives birth to a litter of 20 hatchlings, including Ariadne. Age 21: Word travels that a warlord named the Red Dragon has begun to conquer the realm. He has a special hatred toward Alastrians, because he was once in love with Alyssa, who broke his heart. Age 26: Rotspine instructs all of her children in their first flight. Rotspine and her daughter Ariadne begin to fight a lot, because Ariadne is anxious to see the outside world and Rotspine forbids it. Age 27: Lief, one of Rotspine and Feofan's sons, crosses paths with a group of hunters. They strip him naked, shave his head, and leave him alone in the forest. The family finds him two days later, shivering and scared senseless, unable to speak or make eye contact for weeks. Age 30: The Red Dragon's forces attack Deleo, burning down the forest. Rotspine tries her best to save her family, but Feofan is killed and many of the children are also killed or are taken away in chains. Ariadne, who Rotspine fought with earlier in the day, disappears. Rotspine becomes a mercenary, angry and vengeful at the whole world. She breaks all ties with anyone she ever knew or loved.
