[She jumps at the idea, rushing over to a cluster of stones lining one of the paths.]

[Naturally, she begins collecting the light ones.]

[Maul smiles and gathers up a pile of dark-colored stones. He starts arranging them in a rough likeness of a round creature with wings and a tail.]

I suppose a rock garden wouldn't be out of place here.

Everything is out of place here. Which means that everything kind of fits in.

[Or, more appropriately, everyone.

Although, lately...she's been feeling a quiet ache. A loneliness that she can't get to abate, no matter how hard she tries.

Well, loneliness is self-indulgent. Which she doesn't want to be. So she starts to arrange her light stones like a V of birds, right beside his.]

[He looks over at the formation Airy is making and nods in satisfaction.]

[There's a beat of hesitation on his end. This is what he meant about reactions.]

I can't make you believe it. Make you feel loved. But I can try to communicate or demonstrate better.

And slowly, one can almost hear her begin to smile.]

Well, our biggest holiday of the year is New Years Eve. We exchange presents and have parties and dinners with family and friends.

[She pauses a smile in her voice.]

I think this is my present.

Way better than stuff, in my opinion. [He just got a gift, too, ok?]

But if you wanna celebrate New Years in a bigger way, I'm down for that, too.

( While Peter isn't one to... Do Holiday Things, there is technically a part of him that reaches out. Not because the ancient demon king of Hell has much interest in holiday celebrations, but Paimon has learned that it's a time when many people Gift Things, and connection with others is of a special importance to his spirit. The energy is right for it, and so, towards the end of the month, he bestows little gifts to people.

Left on Ariadne's doorstep, wrapped carefully in thin cloth, is an odd little doll in the likeness of a deer, meticulously hand-crafted with an assortment of random bits and bobbles collected over time.

Set next to the doll, like a mysterious calling card, is a leaf — bearing Paimon's sigil delicately burned into it like filigree. )
