That's the real question. I don't know. Cas and I were trying to confirm the whole lack of soul thing, and with how the spell went I think it's safe to say we were right.
But I dunno how to get it here without popping Lucifer out of his cage.
[ Being sure probably means reaching out to Cas, and he's not sure he's ready to do that yet. The idea of him still stings, the loss aching in his chest like a broken limb, throbbing in agony. ]
I think the first step is...really making sure that we're right. There's only one way I know how to do that, and that's to involve the angel.
[ No...Dean doesn't want to sideline her. He just has to make sure of a few things, first. And Cas is the only one who can stuff a fist into Sam's chest and find out. Then they can go from there. ]
I haven't met him, but if he's a friend of yours, then I'm willing to give it a try.
He's probably the safest of the bunch. Living his dream childhood, really.
Going to school, doing trig instead of sleeping in the backseat of the
impala, wondering what gas station our next sandwich is coming from.
Nah, he's alright. There's nothing going on at the cabin that's dangerous.
Sam's being a dick, but he isn't bringing it home.
[ And little Sammy is as protective of his older brother as Dean is
of him. Dean knows that the kid won't go anywhere - he knows that because
he wouldn't, if it were reversed. ]

[ Which...is not great. At all. ]

[Slow blink.]
What's that?
no subject
[ And fresh, for Dean. ]
no subject
I assume that cage is in your world?
no subject
Yeah. It is. Thankfully.

[She takes a quick sip of her tea.]
So how do we get it here?
no subject
But I dunno how to get it here without popping Lucifer out of his cage.
no subject
[As squids, it was strange. We won't dwell on that.]
Some way to summon it through the sea?

[ Can't even say his name, can you. Coward. ]
no subject
I think, if we're asking favors, we're going to have to get you two back on a first-name basis.
no subject
[ Cas will do it, Dean just...has to ask and not yell at him for leaving him again. ]
no subject
Do you want me to ask him?
I can do it, if you give me the right words.
no subject
I have his crap anyway. He needs to get it out of the house since he doesn't want to be there.
no subject
[It's a genuine offer. Not one oozing with pity.]
no subject
[ Probably. They'll likely fight like cats but he knows Cas gives a shit about Sam, at least, so he'll do it. ]
no subject
She absolutely won't be sidelined in this. Won't be infantilized.
Won't be treated the way Obi-Wan is treating her.]
I have a friend: Varian. If we need to research or build or brew anything, he would be willing to help.

...and, I guess, until we know what we're going to do.
no subject
As soon as I hear something, you'll be the first to know.

What about little Sam? Is he...safe?
no subject

Does he know about what's going on?
Should he?
no subject
He doesn't, yet.
[ But Dean's being harassed in al ater dated thread, so. You know. ]
But he'll need to, eventually. This isn't his first rodeo.
no subject
[She looks around the room. And gives him an embarrassed smile.]
I'll find a bed for him.
